Wave Rock, Hyden, Western Australia, 1999. The rounded granite cliff is shaped like a breaking ocean wave 50 feet high, about to crash on the forest below. It was formed by underground chemical weathering about 60 million years ago, when the rock was still buried under sediments. This place holds cultural significance for the Aborigines. The wall along the top was built in 1951 as a catchment for water.
