Duomo, Milan, 1986. The Duomo in Milan is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. It was constructed over five centuries, beginning in AD 1386, which accounts for a range of contrasting styles. The main spire, about 350 feet high, was added in 1762, and the last gate was completed only in 1965.
