Chankillo, Casma Valley, 1989. This hilltop redoubt on the southern side of the valley probably dates to around 200 BC. The thick concentric walls, stairways to tops of walls, and offset entrances are all highland features and point to increasing contact between coastal and highland peoples during this time.
