Coba, Castillo, 1982. The city of Coba in the Yucatan extends over some 44 square miles, and was one of the most important cities in the Mayan world. Only a small part of the site has been excavated; the rest remains covered by the jungle. Coba was built mainly during AD 623 to 1200. The stepped pyramid rises some 75 feet. At the top of its nine terraces is a small temple.
